Disney hat viel vor dem Star-Wars-Universum. Während J.J. Abrams gerade mit den Dreharbeiten zu »Star Wars: Episode VII«, hat Disney gestern vermeldet, dass Gareth Edwards (sein »Godzilla« ist gerade in den Kinos zu sehen) den ersten Star Wars Stand-Alone-Film drehen soll.
Diese Filme sollen sozusagen Geschichten zusätzlich zur neuen Trilogie erzählen (sie könnten eventuell auch zwischen Episode 3 und Episode 4 angesiedelt sein), kolportiert wurden hier Filme zu Boba Fett und Han Solo. Das Drehbuch zum ersten dieser Stand-Alone-Filme hat Gary Whitta (»The Book of Eli«) verfasst, ins Kino soll der Film bereits am 16. December 2016 kommen.
Gary Whitta sagte in einem Interview dazu: »From the moment I first saw the original movie as a wide-eyed kid, Star Wars has been the single most profound inspiration to my imagination and to my career as a writer. It is deeply special to me,so to be given the opportunity to contribute to its ongoing legacy, especially in collaboration with a film-maker as talented as Gareth, is literally a dream come true. I’m still pinching myself.«
Ob Gareth Edwards wirklich eine so gute Wahl ist – da bin ich mir nicht sicher. Sein »Godzilla« zeichnet sich vor allem durch gute Special Effects, aber nicht gerade durch tolle Dialoge oder eine spannende Handlung aus…
